This is a new one, to me at least, sounds very interesting.
All comments will be appreciated.
Clutch hitting, BA with men on base, BA with men in scoring position, game winning RBIs, and a host of other methods, can be used to try to measure how effective a batter is in helping his team win, via his hitting.
By using an older theme, runs produced ( runs scored + RBIs, less HRs ), and then dividing the result by his teams' total runs scored, one get a percentage of runs produced.
A good batter with lesser teamates should probably rate fairly high, whereas hitters from the 1927 Yanks, for instance, would have to produce a lot , to get a good percentage, on a squad with so many fine hitters.
Runs are the item which decides the ball game. OPS+, stolen bases, win shares, outs made, GIDP, and many other stats, are all contibutory and interesting, however RUNS remain the true currency of baseball.
Therefore I assume the formula could be a good indicator, for hitting "value" ???

That concept looks almost similar to WinShares.
I suspect that the method will line the offensive players up pretty close to the other precise measurements, with a few exceptions here and there(because of an added benefit somebody had).
The most precise measurements, the study of the play by play data, only goes as far back as 1960, so there are some limitiations historically speaking.
