1800 8 Reales...Genuine?

A family friend's father passed away a few months ago, and she has given me some coins to sell for her. This is one of them. I usually stick to US coinage, so I'm not really sure if this is genuine or not. Also, can you tell where it was minted?

Minted in Mexico City - The M with the O above on the reverse next to the value - 8R.

If you look between "REX" and "8R", there's an o/M mintmark for Mexico City.

Although I can't help with authenticity, I will say that despite what looks like corrosion, its surfaces are pleasingly original.

Tough to say if authentic in a condition like that. What's the weight on it? The thing is that if authentic, it would cost less than a period counterfeit.
