Survival of the fittest in the AL East

Longoria and Crawford on DL for the Rays....the Yanks with a ton of guys already on the DL...Sox with Wakefield on the DL, and I hope I'm wrong, but I think they are going to be looking at life without Ortiz in the near future.

whoever stays the healthiest may win it!

You're probably right . . . so, will it be the Blue Jays or the Orioles that take it? image

Tampa, Boston, and New York all have their fair share of scrapes right now.

Maybe the Blue Jays and Orioles do too, but let's be honest, who follows them well enough to know anything beyond their record?
  • Umm, I do (the Jays that is). Still better pitching than any of the other teams, but they just have no offense, which isn't going to cut it in the AL East. They don't have the bats to come back, but with their pitching they'll still play a big part in deciding who gets in, as they still have alot of games left against the top 3.

80sToyGuy - I'm just giving you guys a hard time. I actually follow the Jays pretty closely, once every 5 days or so I tune in to watch Halladay. He's been my fantasy ace this year! That guy is a total stud.

What a complete joke Fantasy BB is, I got Longoria and EVERYTHING on my fantasy sight says no big deal he will be back on Sunday X-Rays are negative- they even quoted Longoria stating he is OK no big deal... OK FINE- I put in my lineup this morning and all of a sudden ( After its too late ) they announce he is going on the DL with a fractured wrist? What a bunch of crap. image
  • Hey Von, no worries, you've got to admit the board is stacked with Yankee/Sox fans though so I just figured you were one in the same. Halladay looks like he's going to have one of those hard-luck careers though, always being one of the top 2 or 3 pitchers in the AL year after year and rarely winning 20 because of the guys behind him (sounds alot like Blylevin doesn't it)? Just goes to show how wins are such a pathetic measurement for a starter. I've got him on 2 of my squads and he totally keeps my staffs together, because you know you're going to get a quality start 90% of the time. Doesn't hurt that I've got CC as well (WOW, now THAT'S a free agent year).

  • I'll predict that Ortiz goes back on the DL and is done for the season soon. Im basing this entirely on my friends in the Orthopedic dept. who say there is no way Big Papi lasts the rest of the year.

Perk-I hear you on that. Same thing happened with me. You don't, by any chance, play on CBSSportsline, do you? Getting zero points for the weke from my 3B slot stinks, big time.

Jay-Well, I am one of those Red Sox fans, but I love baseball in general so I love to watch Halladay pitch even though I'm not much of a Jays fan. Halladay is a true competitor and I think he's a throwback to another day when pitchers went out to pitch 9 innings.

Not to derail this thread entirely, but I've got Halladay, Santana, Peavy, Hamels and Duchscherereeerschher (or however you spell his name) on my team and I've had nothing but hard luck losses or no decisions lately. image
