1938 Walking Liberty PCGS PR67CAM!!!!!

This is THE deepest 1938 Walker I have ever seen in a PCGS 67 holder! It's well frosted devices and super deep mirrors make this example stunningly gorgeous!

  • Wow, if it weren't for the date on the obverse, you would think you were seeing a silver eagle instead of a Walker. Thanks for sharing that pic with us Rick.

That coin is PRETTY!!! Rick, how many coins do you think the mint could strike in 1938 before the cameo frosting wore off the die?

  • Where are you finding all of these "lost" proof coins? That is one of the most beautiful coins I have ever seen. Is it up for sale? I saw your ad in Numismatic News and saw that pcgs pr69 dcam Franklin. That is gorgeous too. I hope I own some of your coins some day.image Thanks for that beautiful picture. Brian

Beautiful, and was made by a long time poster of this forum. I tried getting him to post it when he first heard from PCGS, but he's funny like that. The real question is why didn't the dealer he bought it from think it had a shot for CAM.
  • Rick--

The new frosting technique really works. Keep up the great R&D. Awesome coin. image

Had to come back for another look.

    Guess I'll go, now. *sigh*

Ouch ouch ouch. Now I need sunglasses, a white cane and a seeing-eye dog. (I don't think Bailey the poodle will be much help in that department).

Each year was different, but the number of PCGS PR67 Walkers I have seen the past several years, with this level of contrast, I can count on the fingers of one hand, excluding my thumb! I am talking about the entire series - not just the 1938.image

You didn't answer my question(was the 1938 PR66 Cameo Lincoln part of the same set as this coin?).I'd also like your take on the 1936 PR66 Cameo Lincoln up for sale in the Heritage Signature Auction at the Long Beach CA Coin Show.

Yes indeed, pass the drool bucket!!

Rick, you got one of them in PR66 CAM? You know me.

  • Don,

The 1938 Walker was a single coin, not attached to any set. I wish!
Regarding your second question, I haven't seen the 1936 Lincoln up close, but any 1936-1941 proof Lincoln cents are going to be very rare in Cameo.
  • Oreville -
I heard there was a PR66CAM on the market. I believe it found its way into a collection.

I think you are right about there not being but a few Cameos.I'm sure there are a few reasons. One the minting procedure. The people who own them won't want to split up sets. All of these are factors in my opinion. Are you going after the 1936 PR66 Cameo Lincoln. It is a pop1 coin?

Are you interested in BU or Proof toned quarters?

Rick: Still no untoned or nearly untoned MS-67 FBL Franklins? You know I want that one. I never liked toned Franklins whether Proof or Mint State. image

I really think that $12,500 for that coin was a bargain. I am not one to overstate the value of a coin, but that beautiful Walker is incredible. Wait 3 years and see what it is worth! I would rather own this coin than ANY Franklin, FBL or not. I wish I had those kind of deep pockets. Thanks again for sharing this beauty.
