Pretty good 1962 Topps Poppage today - Scans Added!

Pretty good pop today. I paid about $1.50 a card for these (except the Clemente's, Musial & Aaron towards the middle), so I was already ahead of the game.

In pregrading them I thought I'd get 41 8's or better and I missed that mark. The Mazeroski cards should have been 8's and 8's yield a pretty penny, so I'll try them again. I've never received a 7 or above on Foytack & Witt and really thought they would make it. Still got some tough/low pop 8's, the highest ever graded on one card and was very happy to get 9's. Very pleased with no rejects and fast turnaround time by PSA. Missed some wax for the second time in a row. Either I'm slipping or PSA has some new lights.

    Some of yours went in on previous subs Nick - these all came from one wonderful ebay lot (except the crackouts, Musial, and Marichal).

    Your stuff is always great though. Am down to about 80 cards for my #1 set - I may send you a pm to see if you can help me.

    J: Seems to me like you used to be able to get an 8 with one speck of white showing on one corner - now it seems that any white = 7.

    Nice job. Consistancy has never been PSA's strong point when grading this set.

    The 8.5 is the HIGHEST EVER GRADED example, and Sullivan is 1 of only 26 with only 1 higher:

    The Lemay is 1 of 6 (none higher) and Scheffing is 1 of 6 with none higher also:

    Let's see the Musial plays 21st season is an 8 and Mazeroskis are only 7s??? Doesn't add up for sure. I like the 6.5 Clemente better than the 7.

    very nice cards. i love seeing the vintage scans. i wish i could be disciplined enough to focus on a vintage set.

    Great grades on those brown bordered beauties Mike! Sounds like you made a fantastic pickup on that raw lot. That Tuttle should bring nice coin as well as the Stephens.

    Thanks guys. In response to some of the comments:

    a. Centering on one of the Maz cards may be the issue - agree
    b. Will cards be for sale? - all of the 8's and above will be on ebay, many of the 7's & 7.5's too. Quite a few crack and resubs too.
    c. The 6.5 Clemente is staying in my NM set. I agree that it is much nicer than the 7 - particularly the vivid coloring.

    Only the left one has a little L/R centering issue. It looks like they put too much emphasis on the little bit of "snow" in the Maz on the right.

    The 6.5 is visually nicer in my opinion, and much a clearer picture without the red hue in Clemente's bat, face, and jersey. A raw keeper indeed.
