Shift happens

Hey all,

Been lurking for a while, and decided to dip my toe into the posting waters ...

Displaced Texan here - collecting since 1984, part-time dealing to support my habit since 1988. Started out with the light stuff (you know, those little round pieces of metal that some folks like to pretend are worth something), then more or less kicked that habit when I discovered the addictive qualities of pretty pieces of printed paper!

Anyway, I picked up what I think is a real beauty today, and in doing a bit of digging I learned that a couple of its pack-mates have been featured on this forum already!

First of all, here's my new addition...

And here's the thread where the littermates were pictured... (notes mentioned are near the bottom, in Jim Hodgson's post) Link

Anyway, to my question...

I bought this as an error note, as the serial number touches the Tate signature. The pack-partners are 36 and 44 numbers away from mine, and show the same 'shift', with the serial numbers also touching the signature, but aren't identified as errors in the post. Would you guys concur that if the serial number touches another element, that the note qualifies as an error? That's always been my standard.

[Aside: Like one of JH's, mine also has no back plate number. Curious!]

In any event, I like the note very much, and will be sad to see it go. It's a real beauty!

So whaddaya say ... error or no error?
