1955 Topps with scans.

After a few requests from other board members and being inspired by Teds scans of his "better than drugs" set, I have scanned the HOFers from my 1955 Topps set in PSA 6 to share with you guys. Im pretty proud of this set, but I want to upgrade my Williams to a better centered copy. I am still holding out for a well centered Clemente. I think there are a couple of cards that could get the bump. The Aaron is gorgeous and looks like an easy 7. The Robinson and Kaline look like bumps as well. Let me know what you think.

oh and i completely agree that Aaron is amazing for a 6 and i think the Matthews has a chance at a bump too.

True Ex/Mnt cards are the best bargain IMO.

    These examples are nice.

    Good job Bob.

Nice... I think the Kaline for sure gets at least a .5 bump.

The Aaron is a Great example of "buy the card not the holder"...... PSA 6 vintage is a great way to go for us collectors on a limited budget

    thanks for sharing, great cardsimage
  • Gorgeous cards....just goes to show that if you are buying for your personal collection, there's no need to waste $$$ chasing high-priced 8's and 9's....

Thanks for all of the kind words guys. These cards really do have nice eye appeal. Towards the end of building this set, PSA implemented the .5 grading scale. It drove up the prices on nice PSA 6s that looked like they would bump up a half grade or so. Luckily, I had most of the HOFers by that point, but man I paid over SMR for quite a few of the high #s.

Very, very nice. I love the '55s too! Looks like I'll have to get scanning... have many of the big stars, but no J Robby or Snider or Eddie Mathews yet.
  • Nice!

Very nice cards Bob thanks for sharing. These are my favorite types of threads and to me is what collecting is all about. Good luck finding that centered Clemente! BTW, I think the Williams looks great and presents very nicely.

TJMAC, That means alot coming from you. You have the best mid grade collection of vintage I have ever seen. The Williams isnt that bad now that I look at it harder. It doesnt help that I didnt center it on the scanner either. The left to right centering isnt bad on it, and that is more important to me than the top and bottom.

back in the early 90's a majority of those cards would be classified NM or better and would get no arguments from a majority of collectors at the time.

There's nothing sweeter than a nice PSA 6 set on the more vintage side - superb cards!

    Thanx for sharing.

I'ld love to do a 52T in 6 except for a few cards.

    Nice looking cards

Hard to believe the Aaron and Mays are the same grade though

Gorgeous - the Aaron and Kaline need to be resubmitted. I can't see how they are 6's.

Thanks for the compliment Bob. From what I see, you have fine collection too.
  • Awesome looking cards. I don't see any reason why the Aaron wouldn't earn the extra .5

I just finished my 55 Topps set a few days ago. Mine is raw and in no where near as good of condition as yours, but I still enjoyed building it. It's hard to beat the 55s if you want a vintage set.

    Bob,

What a sweet set! You did a nice job putting it together in a short period of time, that's for sure.

Keep us posted when you find that Clemente.
