Yup...i used Paypal and have already started the claim. Here is the card I bought.

    auction

It was a fair price so I figured it was legit. Live and learn.

You’d think if that was his plan he would have scammed higher valued cards... a criminal and a moron.

as much as many of us hate paypal it sure is nice that they are good at protecting us from scammers like this.

  • Could be a hijacked account too, has some of the signs.

Prime example of if it seems to good to be true it most likely is. Many of the items were well below their Ebay average selling prices.

I agree the "kill" should have been for more..

Not sure what to think about this guy. He does afterall have almost 1600 in feedback.

I don't buy the he built up feedback argument.

    Something is amiss though.

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • Thats why I am thinking it could be a hijacked account. Usually the feedback build is rarely more than 100.

    Steve I agree completely.

When the card was first listed I did my research and found that the price was actually fair (no great bargain) and contacted the seller to see if they would ship to me in Canada.

I heard back from them with in an hour. I replied with a few questions about surface condition and again was replied to in about an hour...so I pulled the trigger.

Really figured that it was legit.

  • Then again something could have happened to the seller too. I just find it very suspicious he went from selling hardly nothing over 5.00 to selling those type cards with no intent of fraud.

Usually the scammers are very quick to answer questions for their fish.

    Mathew,

Just a scenerio.... not meant to be funny or put the guy down:

Prior to all of the seller's great buy-it-now Baseball auctions, he was selling a ton of Pokemon cards.

Maybe one of his buddies put a bug in his ear about how to make a little more money?

Hope everything works out for you.

One thing of note, too, is that some of those people were a bit quick to leave negative feedback. The guy who left 3 negatives bought 2 items on 7/21 and the third on 7/22...left negs for all three on 7/29. The next guy won his item on July 28 and left his neg on 8/7. The next guy won his item July 25 and left his neg on 8/7.

The last two people to leave negs waited the longest won 7/22, negs 8/7. Still, that's only 16 days. Sure, that's a long time, but it looks to me like the usual negative piling on so people can get their licks in before an account is NARU.

In your case, I hope you weren't taken and this all works out in the end.

This is a good point and something I was looking at on it too. Sometimes when one buyer jumps the gun and negs a seller real quick like that others follow suit. How many times have you seen a seller go months or years without a neg get one suddenly and soon have 2 or 3 more.

I found a newbie buyer who left a seller feedback in his feedback he stated "3 days and no item Avoid" Looking at the auction he won and paid July 3rd and left the feedback the on the 7th.

No need to "Live and learn" I would have zero reservations buying from him myself. Hopefully it works out and you get either your card or your money back, Best of luck.
  • You never know he might be hurt and in the hospital. I was in the hospital for two days after a car wreck last week just when 55 of my auctions ended. I was in just good enough shape to stay with my parents and return home every few days to feed pets and package and ship cards a few each time. I have a few cracked ribs a some other minor things. He could be in the hospital in much worst shape than I was in. I just moved back home yesterday and just made it with keeping all my winning bidders happy.

It is quite surprising to read - EVERYDAY - on the EBAY boards that sellers
have ZERO backup plans for delivering sold-merch if they become incapacitated.

I have such a plan, BUT I would not have one if I was not using an employee
from another biznez. In other words, I have to pay for the plan.
