Scanning....Scannning...Scanning up my cards

well it took me about 2.5 hours, but I scanned all my 55 topps, found a double or two, and I am missing 2-3 cards for some reason. I enjoyed looking at the set again, since sitting in a roop box I dont get to enjoy it that often. Just down to the big stars for completion and I will end up just in the top 20 hopefully. I really sugguest scanning all your cards into the system. It wasnt too painfull!

Ah Yes the old unloading my collection for a psa 8 of a freakin amazing card idea right? I cant say I would ever do something like that to be honest, dont you think you would get more enjoyment out of 210 cards than just 1? Dont get me wrong I dont think its a bad idea just not a thing I would do.

You got a very nice collection, Ted good luck with whatever you decide!

I really dont know, I think as a long term investment, space saver, etc the ONE card idea would be cool! That is one of my favorite cards, and it could be liquidated faster if needed..lol

BTW the title of this thread should be sung to the tune of "sailing sailing"

Very nice Ted! I never get sick of looking at 55s.

Very, very nice collection Ted! I too love '55s and that 181 '33 Ruth. I have both of them (in a lesser sense) -- am in progress on the '55s, but in VG/VG-EX to Ex/ExMt. And I've got that #181 Ruth -- tho only in PSA 2. image

There is logic to the notion of having just one, cherry, vintage Ruth card -- but would you be satisfied having only that one lone (but superb) card in your collection? Hard to argue against it though, in any case!

That 33 Ruth has always been my favorite card of him. It was the first Ruth I ever saw in person at a card show back in 1980 or 1981. I have not idea what condition it was in since I was about 5 or 6, but the price was $200.00. I could never trade my collection for one card though. A moderate size collection of quality stuff is always more appealing to me.

Beautiful 55 Topps Set! What grade are you hoping to get the stars in?

If I "had" to get a vintage Ruth in superb shape -- I'd then get a bunch of cheapo reprint sets to get my card "fix", and a smattering of modern cheapo sets.

...eventually ending up with the same clutter of cards as I have now. image

  • You did a real nice job in scanning the 55's and a very nice collection. Your though is interesting about having one card or a complete set. I do think financially you might be better off with one really special card especially if you get a good deal. But I like the idea of 206 different cards to look at and I love the 55's and they have alot of good cards in the set. Ted, have your receive your results from your last submission would be interested what you have in doubles to trade or sell. Gary
