I will bring the Lordmarcovan collection to the Parsippany show on Saturday September 6th at about 1 pm to the end of the day to show the coins to anyone that would like to inspect them in person.
Please pm me if you would like to look over the coins.

Now, that's sniping
I got beat out on 1, out of 2, by about 2 minutes before the cutoff....oh well, the boy goes without one of the last for his album until another acceptable one rears its head
<< <i>kinda sucked that some people sniped at the last second on what is effectively a charity auction but oh well... to each his own. >>
Just for the record... I did up some of my offers during the last hour but did so with over 30 minutes left until midnite... and Oreville posted these raises with 20 minutes left...I felt this was more than enough time for anyone who wanted to counter, to do so...
There was only one "last minute" raise by me... that I made on Lot 14 in response to a raise that was made in the last 5 minutes... my new offer was countered again in the last seconds...and I did not "win" that item...
Considering that this was a charity auction... I think that ANY additional offers that were made, regardless of when, only added to the final amount that was received by Oreville...
Frankly, I was a bit surprised by the light turnout for this "event"...
I guess he was offering the wrong plastic...
Re: Slabbed coins - There are some coins that LIVE within clear plastic and wear their labels with pride... while there are others that HIDE behind scratched plastic and are simply dragged along by a label. Then there are those coins that simply hang out, naked and free

old ANACS plastic ROCKS. I was suprised more people didn't participate as well. ah well. great coins and a GREAT gesture!!!
Unless Oreville decides to donate a portion to charity, but that charity will NOT be the "LordM Relief Fund" in any way, shape or form.
Originally Oreville offered me a portion of the profits, which was mighty kind of him.
I refused. But at the time, being recently unemployed and nervous, I told him I might accept a modest LOAN out of the proceeds.
As it happens, I am doing fine and there is no need for that. My coin business has been doing well and I got a tentative job offer the other day from the very first application I left, within an hour or so of becoming unemployed. I will no longer be needing any loan.
These are OREVILLE'S coins, as they have been for the last seven years. My only connection to this sale is as a name in the provenance/pedigree. I assembled this collection around the time of the millennium, but aside from that, I have very little to do with it now.
(I did try to help out a little with the pictures by taking Oreville's gigantic scans and cutting them up into individual coin pictures, which are hosted on the server where my detecting forum is.)
I HAVE NO STAKE IN THE OUTCOME OF THIS AUCTION, NOR WILL I BE ACCEPTING ANY OF THE PROCEEDS, NOT EVEN AS A LOAN.
But I do give Oreville full credit for the kindness, anyway.
I'm glad to see it has brought some interest. I've mostly stayed away from the thread but have peeked in a couple of times. I also looked at the coins again to see if I had bought any CircCam material way back when. As I recall, there were a few nice toned pieces in here (not "monsters" or "rainbows", but "crusties"). But the only ones that would fit my current personal quest today would be the 20c piece I bought from Darin Whittaker and the Trade dollar I bought from Jim Atha, and those have now both moved beyond what I am willing to bid or could afford. Otherwise I'd have been in here as a bidder on a few of my old coins! I mulled over the idea of bidding on a few of the smaller-denomination pieces, but decided to avoid the appearance of any collusion or conflict of interest. I've tried not to interfere at all here.
I'm assuming that the set didn't sell as a whole and individual offers stand. I'd like to publicly thank Larry (SeaEagleCoins) for his part in Lot #14. Because of the back and forth bids as time was running out (no sniping intent on our part) Oreville determined that in all fairness Larry should have one last chance at a counter offer. Larry wanted the coin but seeing as how I also wanted it he declined and it went to me for my last bid.
Thanks Larry and Oreville for the manner in which this whole thing was handled.
This 1857-O dime will be given away as a bonus to anyone that makes an offer on anyone of the 23 coins. Dave Wnuck graded the coin AG-03. It is raw.
Only requirement is to post an acceptable offer that is at least $1 greater than the last offer left by someone else on at least one coin at least one time.
Since I am not a coin dealer and never did one of these "big sales" before, I must ask for you patience and I will start sending out "invoices" to all winners starting Friday night September 19th through Sunday night September 21st.
As a bonus for those that may be "local" to the NYCity metro area. I will attend the Westchester Coin show on Saturday October 4th and Parsippany, NJ on Sunday October 5th.
If anyone is going to these shows, just let me know and perhaps I can arrange to hand deliver your coin(s) to save on your shipping costs.
<< <i>One other thing, I heard about lormarcovan's daughter Victoria's accident and wish her a speedy recovery! >>
Thank you. You were the only one I told, I think.
It was a nightmarish nine-hour ordeal, but she is going to be fine.
To sum up, on Monday, Victoria got a pony for her upcoming seventh birthday (which is Sunday). My wife's uncle brought it out. It wasn't my idea, but she was really excited. She was walking the pony around by its lead. Then she stumbled and fell and ended up behind it somehow. As luck would have it, the dog spooked the pony at that exact moment, when Victoria was getting back up off the ground, and it kicked her in the forehead, creating a terrible wound.
After about nine hours of emergency room waiting and CT scans and plastic surgery, she is fine, and now that the wound has been stitched up and fixed, one can barely notice the bandage beneath her hair. Thank heaven it didn't hit an eye, or give her a concussion, or knock her out. It was still a pretty bad trauma.
She will always have a small scar there but it will be right along the natural crease in her forehead, so it shouldn't be very noticeable.
It was terrifying, but she came through just fine, and wouldn't you know it, she was out feeding the pony the very next morning.
I guess nobody gets through childhood without a hard knock or two, and this was the worst so far. I hope it remains the worst she has to deal with. Hoo boy, it sure gave her mother and I an added grey hair or two.
LordM, I'm so sorry to hear this about your daughter. I'm praying for her full and quick recovery.
Kids can be surprisingly strong in cases like this, my own have scared my wife and I on numerous occasions (I won't get into those details, though, too gruesome and a bit embarrassing)
I'm glad she's going to be okay. With kids, I have always thought I'd rather have the injury than one of my own little ones. I hate to see them go through anything like that.
The following is the amounts I have calculated is due and owing for the various lots.
I will allow installment payments of up to 60 days to be made on individual coins. There will be a $2 fee added to each installment payment. In such case I request that all three checks be mailed to me in advance with the appropriate dating of each check. The first 1/3 check is current date, the second check dated 30 days later and the last 1/3 check dated 60 days from the current date. No paypal on installment payments. Also, once installment payment plan is elected, the buyer waives the right to a return policy.
I will pm each winner my mailing and paypal address.
Postage will not exceed $3.00 for each shipment. The insurance will be charged strictly at cost based on USPS rates as follows: $0.01 to $50 $1.70 $50.01 to 100 $2.15 $100.01 to 200 $2.60 $200.01 to 300 $4.60 $300.01 to 400 $5.55 $400.01 to 500 $6.50 $500.01 to 600 $7.45 600.01 to 5,000 (maximum liability is $5000) $7.45 plus $0.95 per $100 or fraction thereof over $600 in declared value

All of the coins including yours have been shipped as of yesterday as I previously indicated to you (by pm) I hoped to do.
Please let me know who the other inquiring buyers are besides you and millertime so that I can send them a second pm to doubly inform and reassure them.
I believe I sent you two pm's advising that I was very, very sick for well over a week. Apparently you must have not read them.
Since I am still holding your personal money order and did not deposit it, just remember that you have the right to return the coins if they do not meet with your approval. I will not deposit your money order and will await your instructions.
I did package the stuff before I got sick then added the inside paper receipt after I started feeling much better. That was what delayed sending them out. I did not want to be sealing them and all while I was in the throes of my illness.
I thought it was just a bed sinus infection, then slept for three days straight. Uggh. Packaging while delerious? I cannot even understand how I even posted halfway sanely on this message board during this period of time.
By the way, I forgot to mention that the winner of the bonus is the youngest bidder in this auction. Now we need to find how who was the youngest bidder (whether you won or not).
Alot of the people I work with call me "kid"...but I work at the VA Hospital and most of the patients are retired folks...
You got me beat by a long shot... I know I was 18 once but can't really remember it... I do know it happened back in 1972...and even though the calendar had moved past the 60's, it was really still the "60's"... if ya know what I mean
...and you know what George Carlin said about the 60's... "If you can remember them you weren't really there"...
Re: Slabbed coins - There are some coins that LIVE within clear plastic and wear their labels with pride... while there are others that HIDE behind scratched plastic and are simply dragged along by a label. Then there are those coins that simply hang out, naked and free
Adam, I don't think there will be a problem for you with the coins/getting sick.
Mine hasn't arrived yet but sounds like it will any time now. The coin is for my son and he will open it when it arrives. It is 100% his. I am not going to worry about him getting sick even though colds/etc do hit him harder as he has had some health issues. Might be different if someone was sneezing all over it and immediately handing it over though

Even if Lordmarcovan does not need the funds, it will go to a fund in which it will be used to help some of our fellow members in times of need.

Millertime
Complete Dime Set
All of the coins including yours have been shipped as of yesterday as I previously indicated to you (by pm) I hoped to do.
Please let me know who the other inquiring buyers are besides you and millertime so that I can send them a second pm to doubly inform and reassure them.
I believe I sent you two pm's advising that I was very, very sick for well over a week. Apparently you must have not read them.
Since I am still holding your personal money order and did not deposit it, just remember that you have the right to return the coins if they do not meet with your approval. I will not deposit your money order and will await your instructions.
Just was wanting to know since it has been awhile since I sent my money in.
Glad to hear you are feeling better.
I will let you know if the coins are satisfactory when received, I sure they will be fine.
Brian
I realized as I was opening it that the person that sent it to me just had the flu.
I'm caring for a deathly ill family member. If I get the flu just now, what remains of my fragile little world is going to disintegrate horribly.
I certainly hope enough time was allowed so that I didn't get an east coast sickness!
It is rare that I will temper my enthusiasm for a new arrival to my collection.
I received mine today, btw, and it is very nice!
Let the drum roll!
Who is the youngest?
<< <i>I turned eighteen last Saturday. >>
I don't think there will be a problem for you with the coins/getting sick.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
