I've always thought Isringhausen sucked, even in his best years...given the choice between him and any other closer in my fantasy drafts, I always took the other guy.

Izzy is done. He needs to go. Thanks for the past saves (by the skin of his teeth), but he needs to go. In the next few days, the Cardinals need to give Chris Perez a try to see how he handles it. That way, if he succeeds, they can leave Wainwright in the rotation like he needs to be. If Perez fails, then give the closer role to Wainwright like they did in 2006.

According to the St Louis Post Dispatch today, Wainwright is going to be rehabbing as a reliever.

I think his best years are ahead of him. Along with Paul Wilson and Bill Pulsipher, Isringhausen and the Mets rotation will be the best in baseball for many years to come.
