Pete Rose in Vegas

I was in Vegas from Thursday to Monday. On Saturday, I walked through the Caesar's shops and saw Rose at that store where he regularly signs. I was tempted to get an auto, but couldn't fully justify it. I am now somewhat regretting it. A baseball auto would have been about $90, and a flat about $70.

The store was filled with gawkers, but I saw nobody getting an auto in the five minutes I stood there contemplating.

Should I have?

Had I stayed there until today, I could have gotten Garvey. I probably WOULD have gotten a Garvey.

  • You probably would have got Garvey, but had to debate about getting Pete? Crazy....

I'd take an autograph of the all-time hit king, before I would ever think for one second about Garvey!

I was leery mostly because I've heard Rose can sometimes be gruff, while Garvey is generally more pleasant.

If Rose had a better reputation, I would have gotten an auto for the sole purpose of telling him how great of a player he was. I guess I didn't want to risk $70 to have him not even look up at me.

I guess I just answered my own question. image

Yeah, I hear ya, but would you like to tell your grandkids, and possibly great grandkids, that you met Pete Rose, or Steve Garvey?

Garvey would be better positioned at a Planned Parenthood office in Vegas image

could someone please elaborate on Pete Rose's situation where he is "regularly signing autos for money in a casino"? What does he do..take the money he makes everytime he signs and run to the sportsbook?? thats a really funny visual.
  • Just for info here is the schedule for Pete.

    Schedule

Pete is there all the time as well as some other sports figures mixed in. I have been a fan of Pete and the Big Red Machine since I was a kid so I am a bit biased on Pete but what do you expect him to do to earn a living?

    Slightly Medicated Red

Looking for 81-84 Topps Stickers in PSA 9 or better, 81 Topps Scratch offs, 83 Topps Fold outs in PSA 8 or better, 83 Fleer Stamps and 81/86 Fleer Star Stickers in PSA 9 or better.

  • I met Pete at that same store. It was great and I am very glad I did it. Chatted for about 10 minutes. My short story about the whole meeting has been told in a couple of other threads already...

I was there in June and saw Pete just sitting there waiting to sign something. It was kind of sad actually. I already have his auto or I would have gotten something too.
