Presidential Dollar Signature Series ??

I have noticed these Historical Signature series proof coins for sale from the mint.
US Mint Historical Signature Series - Proof Presidential Dollars

Cost is $ 19.95 each from the mint....

Then I noticed these online....

Coin*Diva is selling these...
2007 and 2008 set PR69dcam Pres Dollars - All 8 coins BIN$ 105

So, as far as I can see these have nothing to do with the mint signature series.....
Or Coin*diva is taking a big bath on the PR69 undergrade coins.

Why is this series coming out?

Is this like Statehood Quarter Flag labels?

So, Do we need ...

FIRST STRIKE,

BLUE LABEL

&

SIGNATURE

to have all of the proof Presidential Dollars?

The Business Strikes have ...
First Day Issue,

Presidential Label,

Blue Label &

Signature????

I did notice that PCGS has added the 2008 coins to the sets in the "with First Strike Sets", so the non FS coin can be either a Blue label or the new signature series coin to fill the slot.

Will there be Signature Series Business Strikes as well?

The labels are nicer than the plain blue labels but, what a pain and expense to go back 2 years worth and assemble them.

Anyone know what this series is about?

PCGS COIN #'s

Thomas Jefferson Dollar Proof - Signature Series Population

James Madison Dollar Proof - Signature Series Population

    Forgot one?

    Presidential Holder

Are they all the same Proof coins?

I did edit my first post. Thanks!

They are all the same proofs as far as I can tell.

So how many labels can we collect?

    I understand
First Day Issue & Presidential for business strikes...

First Strike & Presidential for proof strikes....

And Blue Labels for the non-bulk (BS & PR) coins that get graded by PCGS.

    Now, "Signature Series" ??

Is this a dealer requested label, just like requesting presidential labels?

So, at this point the "Signature Series" seems to be the equivilant of the Presidential Label and the Blue label, we just now have three choices!

Have not seen any others yet.

Pretty soon there will need to be a "Label Forum" along with the current US Coin Forum and the others....

All of the label collectors with the "blue label" "Presidential label" "signature label" and whatever can gather and compare labels. PCGS can start a label grading service and have MS70 Labels. I sure would like one of those!image

Four each per year three mints. And I have a couple that will not fit in any of the sets. They are Goerge Washingtons FDI graded before they come up with the A & B junk.

These appear to simply be label treatments as the Signature Series have not been released for the Monroe, Adams, Jackson or Van Buren coins.
Hopefully this will not be a registry set but with PCGS issuing a separate coin number and populations, anything is possible.

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    Lee,
At first I would agree with your assessment BUT.....Flag holdered State Qtrs do not have a seperate coin number......

This is one roller coaster series.

Which is exactly what I stated Jim. The signature series coins DO have PCGS Numbers which only means they are fair game in the registry arena.

    I'm getting dizzy.....................

  • jim, the signature series has become an either/or category - meaning, you can use them to replace other proof coins i think. i would like it to be included in the complete proof set as a separate category. will anyone support me on that and email pcgs?

I'm thinking that if PCGS gives these a number and a special label, that its only a matter of time before they are included on a "Complete Varieties Proof Set".

They will not be separate slots. They are either/or per slot.
