Rodriguez currently has 45 saves with 51 games to go. (Thigpen's record of 57 has stood for 18 years.) If my math is correct he's on pace for about 66 or 67 saves.

Personally saves are way overrated, come in for one lousy inning with no one on base. yawn. Gotta respect the old school guys who pitched 2+ innings, in real jams.
Frankis is not even close to the pitcher he was a few years ago. He's post steroids and has lost the sharp breaking ball and 5-6 miles an hour on his fast ball. The only thing that has saved him from falling off the map is a chnage up he developed in the off season.
Frankie's not fooling many batters anymore.
"If I ever decided to do a book, I've already got the title-The Bases Were Loaded and So Was I"-Jim Fregosi
for an inning that is.

he is no Bruce Sutter:
For comparison i looked up Bruce Sutter who won the Cy Young award in 1979.
Sutter had 41 games where he pitched Multiple innings. and 36 games where he entered with Men on base.
K-Fraud has ZERO multiple inning games and 8 games he entered with men on base. Pathetic. case closed.
<< <i>for comparison what would the media hype be if a pitcher were to break the single season win total? >>
Is it even possible to break that record whatwith the 5 man rotation? It's hard enough to win 20 anymore.

I wish the Mets had him to begin the 9th inning yesterday.
The guy they gave the ball to is the real fraud.
And Fwiw K Rod should be compared to Thigpen not Sutter.
