1956 Honduras centavo

I've been looking for an example of the 1956 Honduras centavo that has sold recently to get some idea of value and cannot find one on the internet. Is the coin so common that people don't bother to sell it, or is it one of those coins that Krause has not valued correctly and is actually hard to find?

  • I can't answer your question but Krause has a mintage of 2,000,000 for that particular coin and 3,500,000 for the 1954 date along with 28,000,000 for the 1957/6 & 1957 dates.

Mintage figures often don't tell the full story though as I know full well from my experience with ZAR coins.

I sold and unc early/ low mintage date of the centavo and it sold for $8 where the book value shows $45 in xf. I had no takers. -dan

I bought a lot locally that had a good many of them, some in RB AU-UNC. The lot was almost all Honduras. Go figure.

Need one? I can rummage around. Dunno if all mine are gone or not. There is a fair chance I still have some. (But the chances of my actually finding it if I do have one? Pfffft!)

BTW, I think I sold a few in the $1-2 range.

It's not as common as the 2c but I suspect it's quite common.

    These come surprisingly nice.
