Grading commons?

Is it worth getting commons graded from the 80's and early 90's if you have a chance of getting a PSA 10? I have a whole slew of 88 and 89 topps that have a good shot of 10's. Most of them are players I have never heard of. If i wait for another $5 special is it worth getting them graded if I can get a psa 10?

80s commons in PSA 10 can go for a $0.99 opening bid, and at the same time it is not too rare to see one go for several hundred.
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
  • The only ones from those two years that may be worth grading are 1988 Donruss. There are still a lot of low pop 9's with no 10's from that set.
