Is this cash from Annam?

I got this one in a 2X2 that was labeled Annam. To me, it looks like a Japanese cash, although I have not been able to match it up with anything perfectly yet. The coin is bronze and about 25mm in diameter. the only thing different about it that may not be able to be seen in the photos is a perfectly formed dot that appears to be part of the coins devices, about midway between the top and right characters on the obverse. The bottom legs on the left character seem to be misshapen when compared to other cash coins. Any ideas?

The blank reverse is found on both Japanese and Annamese cash coins, as are the Chinese characters on your coin. On a quick survey, I found similar (but not identical) coins from both countries.

Isn't this Japanese? I didn't see any coins like this in Toda so I don't think it is Annamese. I just moved and most of my references are still packed... image

I say we declare it Japanese.
  • Japan, Kanei-Tsuho 1 Mon. Call it KM#1.1 The calligraphy isn't even close to the KM picture, but is somewhat similar to several of the JNDA examples.

Couldn't find good match in JNDA or on Zeno for the calligraphy, specifically I tried to find a match for the left character(ho?).
I'm no expert but it doesn't look right to me.
