Who do you think is the greatest all-around player with less than 500 HRs?

Only rule: No pitchers. We're talking a combination of batting, fielding, and what they mean/meant to their team?
The first few names for consideration that come to mind are: Cobb, Musial, Rose, DiMaggio....and quite a few more actually.....
Who would you choose?

Hitting (431 HRs, 3184 hits), Fielding (.977 Fielding Percentage)
Infinite influence to his team, the game, and even to people who don't follow baseball. He's the man.
<< <i>Clemente is a good answer , personally always thought Ripken was a tad overrated ( im sure i'll get bashed for that ). . Only 3 years hitting over .300 out of 18 qualifying years >>
such a tough call however.
I also really like Pete Rose.

You need to look at speed first then fielding then obviously batting average.
Cobb, ECollins, Speaker, Wagner, Lajoie, Hornsby, Frisch, Henderson, JRobinson, Clemente, and Gwynn, etc.
