Card shops in Boston?

Hey everyone,

I am going to be making a trip shortly to Boston and want to see if anyone knew of any really good card shops? Also, touristy question, what are the top sights? Great places for good food/beer? I am bummed the weekend I am going to be there the Sox are going to be out of town, so I won't catch a ball game.

Any and all advice for a great trip to Boston please let me know!

Jeff

Not much in the way of card shops - Teaparty in Downtown Crossing (Bromfield Street) is probably the best, but there isn't a lot.

Faneuil Hall is your best bet for bars at night, although Boylston St. can be solid as well. Newbury Street has tons of upscale locations (street cafes, shopping, etc.)

PM me if you want any more specific info; have a blast!

Anywhere near Faneuil Hall is a great time on the weekends for the good bars in town. Purple Shamrock, Black Rose, Hennessey's, Green Dragon, Bell in Hand. If you want good cheap eats elsewhere, the Pour House on Boylston is always good. Great city, sir...my hometown. I wish I was still there.
  • You should still do a Fenway tour image

Plenty of places to go, do and see. If your into history...you can do the freedom trail. If you want slamming Italian food, check out the North End. There's also the aquarium and the Science Museum if you have kids. If you like Art you can check out the Museum of Fine Art on Huntington Ave. or the Institute of Contemporary Art off the Green Line, its a bit more avant guard. There are any number of decent restaraunts in the Fanueil Hall area as well as merchants, shops etc.

I agree with Boba - you gotta take the tour of Fenway. It's like $12 bucks and worth at least twice that. When I took the guided Freedom Trail tour I thought it was cool, but I think my guide was lazy because we mostly hung out in shady cemetaries so he could tell us stories that he thought were funny.

Question for anyone that lives near Boston: Any of you guys ever go to either TC's Lounge or Bukowski's?

I've been to the Bukowski Bar. Cool place if you read Bukowski. I'm a big Ham on Rye fan and I own Barfly on DVD so it was right up my alley. It's right next to the old Cheri movie theatre next to Hynes Convention Center. They turned the Cheri into some sort of bowling alley after I left town in 03. I think they eliminated the old Nickelodeon movie theatre across from BU and the Copley Mall one too if I'm not mistaken.

Centerfolds is the upscale one with the $20 cover and the line. Glass Slipper has no cover and no line. There's a reason one has the cover and line, and the other doesn't. You can take it from there.

Both are great dive bars. Bukowski's has a great peanut butter burger which sounds weird but tastes fantastic. No food over $10, which is great for me because I am as cheap as they come.

Josh Beckett is usually grabbing a burger at Bukowski's after the games as well. TC's is SUCH a dump OMG! Kinda touristy but the Boston Beer works across from Fenway has a few cool brews and would have some eye candyimage

If you are a beer drinker you can tour the Sam Adams Brewery.

    Sampling at the end!!
