Sellers from Taiwan...

Anyone have any luck buying from Taiwan? I neverrealized sportscards are popular over there. I have recently been following some auctions for Triple Threads and see one seller with a ton of them, from Taiwan. Should I be hesitant to buy from Taiwan? He appears to have good feedback...

I've had many transactions from Taiwan, never an issue. That being said, selling to a Taiwanese customer may be different.

I only have a few data points, but I have sold a lot of modern cards to buyers in Taiwan the last couple of years (no problems). Remember that they dominated the LL World Series for so long and baseball is quite popular there. Perhaps with the advent of the Internet and Satellite TV they are able to get more coverage of MLB now.

I'm surprised they can collect American(?) baseball cards. I would think just trying to get cards off Ebay if one lives in Alaska or Hawaii would be hard enough (in terms of shipping costs/time).

For most stuff shipping to Alaska and Hawaii is not any different or more expensive than anywhere else. First class mail is about the same speed as is priority and express. Now if you start talking about Parcel and Media then it becomes an issues.

The thing that worries me about Taiwan and other Asian countries is the sheer volume of counterfeits that comes from that part of the world in so many other categories.

Ive bought a few $40-$50 items and have never had a problem. Although I do check feedback to make sure seller is legit and there are some with 2-3k positives. Selling to them may be where the difficulty lies, but for the most part, you can get some nice deals on stuff because of the stigma attached with Taiwan sales.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY
