72 Down--1956 Topps U.S. Presidents Completed in PSA 8 or Better

With the ebay win of "The Father of Our Country" himself--George Washington, I have completed my 72nd vintage or semi-vintage set with each card PSA 8 or better--1956 Topps U.S. Presidents.

This one started with me buying roughly 2/3 of the set from the father of the person who runs Scottsdale Cards(my memory is somewhat fuzzy here). The last dozen I have picked up one-by-one on Ebay. The final card--#3 George Washington is a pop 10 in 8--cards 1 and 2 are each pop 8s(the lowest in the set). Most of the tougher cards go for over $100 in psa 8.

This represents a continued expansion of my collecting efforts into non-sports whoic may ultimately account for 10% of my completed sets. My interest is not broad-based here--primarily historical, music or famous people sets. I have several that I am working on currently.

The set ranks 4th in the PSA Set Registry with a 8.06 set rating dehind Norman, recent HOF inductee Bill Bengen and noted fb card(and other) collector FabFrank. I will let the set rest at this level.

The goal remains 100 vintage or semi-vintage sets in PSA 8 or better. I appreciate the help of all fellow collectors in achieving my goal.

    Jim,

How many do you anticipate finishing at the National?

Historically, I have found very few cards I needed at the National.

I am not going this year for work/personal reasons.

Once in a while someone sees a card from my want list at a show and calls me--maybe I will be lucky this year.
