Move along now. Nothing to see here. Nothing under $1800 anyway. They won't be giving ebaY a run for their money, now will they? This is where I'll come when I win the big LOTTO! $450K for a coin? I think not. The rich keep getting richer, eh? This is just evidence.

I have been a collector for over mumbly-five years. I learn something new every day.
<< <i> Move along now. Nothing to see here. Nothing under $1800 anyway. T >>
Not true at all. There were sufficient number of coins listed for under $800.
It was a HUGE time saver for me. I was able to zip back and forth to check out the specific coins at the dealer tables that were shown in the Collectors Corner.
In fact, I was able to procure a 1/2 cent in PCGS MS-65BN from Albanese (of NY) as this collectors corner helped me focus on who had what coins more quickly.
<< <i> Not very original, actually. vcoins.com has been around for years. >>
I know all about vcoins.com. They missed the key component of making it easy for collectors and that was organizing the inventory of coins into series such as flying eagle cents, indian head cent uncirculated, indian head cent proofs, lincoln cents uncirculated, proofs, etc.
Without having these categories, I am using the search engine to pick a category and not saving it for dates, PCGS vs NGC, mintmarks, etc. In other words, the search engine is "saved" to do my dirty work only when needed rather than having to use it ALL THE TIME.
So PCGS vastly improved upon the vcoins.com concept.
Your point is well taken, Oreville, however, vcoins started out as a hub for ancients dealers, and ancient coins (hundreds of rulers and countries) don't fall into a relatively small number of series/groups like US coins do, so a search engine is needed more.
Anyway, I wasn't trying to compare both sites, I was merely pointing out that the concept of a "virtual bourse" (many dealers on one Web site) is not a new one, even for vcoins.
Good deals with: goldman86 mkman123 Wingsrule wondercoin segoja Tccuga OKCC LindeDad and others.
this is, pretty much, a USELESS feature if someone doesn't keep up with updating the data.
Of course, any log of tabular data is useless if it is not maintained regularly. I've been trying to use Collector's Corner for quite some time and have seen nothing to prove that anyone really keeps up with the entries.
*if it's up to someone who got layed off, that's the way it goes, take down the site.
If the site requires constant input from dealers, FORGET about it! In the past 4 weeks I've requested pictures from three different dealers, who say to send them email if you need a pic. I have NOT heard back from any of these dealers. ALL of them have been mentioned favorably on this board, too. Oh well, I guess they're off whining about their lack of business to someone who will listen.
It's been there for awhile, and I have seen a constant improvement. There are more dealers, more types and grades of coins, and better updating of inventories lately. Still many of the coins images could use help. But with good return polices that can be worked around. I especially like the interface with the PCGS registry showing the coins available to fill slots when building a set. Now if I could only afford there offering more often, like someone already mentioned that Lottery win will make it all good.
I'm only 1 for 3 with the Collectors Corner. Three times I requested more info/pictures or just wanted to purchase a coin. 2 out of 3 times I was told that the coin was already sold!! only once was I able to successfuly purchase a coin from the listing... sort of frustrating...
you see, "we" just can't keep doing business this way. It's got to change.
I was directed to two coins on David Hall's website from the Collector's Corner website, I get there and only one of them is in his inventory. I had seen that one for a while, but based on what Collector's Corner was telling me, I damn near was whipped into a Longacre-like frenzied froth when I saw that second one which was supposedly there.
A prospective buyer is left wondering just who is responsible for updating this info.

The collector is free to negotiate prices with them once he finds a dealer. But first the collector has to like the coin?
But at least it is a potential clearing house for dealers to list their coins.
Also looking for VF-EF Seated halves.

I surf CU a lot... as I can view more new dealer listings in one single place then surfing each individual dealer site.
