Which side would you wish to see toning on?

If I place this Founding father commem into the same coin cabinet that toned the below example of the American Silver Eagle and I was lucky enough to get similar results in toning which side would you want to have toned?

Side A Obverse

or Side B reverse

If the toning was going to look like this: image

  • I dont care for the toning on the ASE, nor do I think it would look good on the Founding Father comemm. But, thats just my opinion.

Do both sides. The reverse is way prettier.

    That will take 2-3 years.

The ASE took a little over a year in the coin cabinet. Now I do not even know if it will tone at all, or if it will look good at all.

I thought the reverse, but it seems most are voting obverse.

I am just real bored right now.

<< <i>Sorry but I don't get it. I thought toning is only valued if it is natural and old. But on a 2004 is definitely isn't old, so why would it be desired? i can't comment on it's AT vs NT but I can absolutely tell that an under 3 year old coin made or whatever to look like a 100 year old coin is just plain odd to meimage >>

Not much to get here. My coin cabinet put a pleasing tone on a 2004 ase that I just tossed in there raw, and I have this FF Franklin which is wothless except melt, and I just thought it would look nice with some color on it.

Just wondering which side may look nicer with a similar tone to it?

I'd like to see what it looks like on the reverse. Not sure what the point is though.

The obverse has always been the preferred side

for toning and grading. I don't really know why,

    but it just is.

Ahh but to the true collector it does not matter young grass hopper. If you ask nicely the reverse becomes the obverse. image

I notice when folks sit in the sun too long,

they tend to tone on both the Obverse as

    well as the reverse.image

  • If you do it intentionally is it NT or AT?

Since it's not .999 silver, I doubt it will tone like the ASE.

    Obverse is first choice.

Well the ASE was just tossed in there and not looked at for a long time, I guess 1-2 years.

The FF Franklin is being put there on purpose, but nothing done to it other than interntionally hoping for a pleasant tone.

Either way I don't care. image
