Calling The Bluff Of A Seller Attempting To Sell A Card A Second Time ...

If, after reading my post, you believe me to have acted wrongly, that I was conniving, etc., I wouldn’t necessarily disagree with you. That said on July 20, 2008, I won an action for a 1986 Topps Joe Montana PSA 6 S/N 14934285 (“Montana”). Not a valuable card, but I like its appearance. I sent payment via Paypal on July 21, 2008. On July 25, 2008, while surfing ebay, I noticed that the Montana was up for auction again; exact same card pictured. As such, I emailed the seller asking him if he intended on sending the card that I previously won or if intended to sell the card a second time. The seller responded with “we have two of the same card.” I responded that while he might have two (2) 1986 Topps Joe Montana both graded PSA 6, they are not the “same card.” If nothing else, the PSA serial numbers would be different. I advised him that I trust he would be sending the card pictured, e.g., the card with the serial number 14934285. The seller did not respond.
I suspect the seller was not happy with the ending price (I was the only bidder) and decided to simply sell the card again. As such, I decided to “call his bluff” and try to win the second auction for the 1986 Topps Joe Montana PSA 6. Well, auction ended last night and I sent payment this morning via Paypal. After sending payment, I emailed the seller advising that payment has been made and requested that he ship the card to my confirmed Paypal address. Also, I advised that I previously won his first auction for the Montana and, as such, I trust that I would be receiving two (2) Montana in the mail. Honestly, I doubt I will receive any cards and I’ll be out $12.00 and I’ll just file an Item Not Received with ebay and, if need be, ding him with two (2) negatives.

In reality, all you did was bid and "buy" two cards. Nothin' wrong with that.
Maybe you've helped prevent another jackass from moving up to bigger and greater scams. If not, at the very least, you're scare him into realizing that buyers on eBay are smart enough to keep their eyes open.
Thanks for taking one for the team... too bad eBay is jam packed with sellers like that guy.

This will deter sellers from engaging in unethical business practices.
has TWO cards. IF not, he should be dealt with harshly.
IF one of the cards gets "lost in the mail," it would be reasonable
to conclude that the seller is a dirtbag.
The seller uses lazy pictures. That is never a good sign.

Same photo, same cert number.
The seller could have two cards and just be too lazy to change the photo. A bad practice.
