Just a coin of the realm.

Seems like you cant purchase anything without using the best part of a $20 bill.....how convient would a few $20 coins in the pocket be?

We can't even get a $1 coin into circulation, and you're campaigning for a $20?

    Good luck!!!!!

People are less likely to hoard $20 's..........................

IMHO $20 's have an excellent chance of ciculating................

It wouldn't work unless we got rid of paper money of $20 or lower denomination.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

    Yes, let's have a base-metal "golden" $20. image -Preussen

I personally don't like the idea, but I think a $20 coin has a much large chance of finding circulation than a $1. I don't want to carry a bunch of heavy coins totally like $14 in my pockets, but wouldn't mind it as much if it was 5 coins totaling $100.

The idea took root from holding the $10 buffalo I just got..... how nice it they were legal tender.....

Use 9 karat yellow gold clad to a copper or silver inner core. Make it slightly larger than a nickel, and thicker, with a heavily reeded edge.

(Bu they'd probably never consider any precious metal content...not it you really want it to circulate)

If it contained some silver, say 1/4 or 1/2 oz.But I can not see the so-called PTB, getting more people to think about PM's .

We're not ready for it YET. We can't even get the $1 coin in circulation. Europe has 2 Euro coins that are VERY much active in circulation. 2 Euro = $3.11 today by the way.

Come to think of it, we can't even get a 50 cent piece in circulation. Sure, you see one every once in awhile, but not very often.

I think they should move the decimal point on the half and dollar. Make them $5 and $10, respectively. $20 seems a little stout for a coin I might lose in the couch, but after a couple more years of inflation that $20 coin would be good. Maybe 2012.

You make a case for a dollar coin but let me tell you.....

    coins are received, seldom given.

Where does your pocket change come from? You get it handed to you because you are too considerate of the checkerouoter to waste her time while you stand there and count out....Five, six seven eight.....Ok, now for the coins....25....50...60,,61,62 and there ya go...$8.63.

Nope you whip out a twenty......then she makes all that change for YOU.

So logic on a 20$ coin over a 1$ coin is that You whip out these $20 coins almost like a "pass" to getting just about anything you buy in the penny ante catagory.

  • The Federal Reserve Bank will NEVER allow the US Treasury to replace Federal Reserve $20 fiat currency with United States of America minted $20 coins.

How about we try a $10 first; it would be easy enough just add a 0 onto the ASE dies

    Totally agree!

Hell I'd even go for a $50 coin just to fill my gas tank! image

To respond to the "precious metal content" statement, the US Government would never produce a "face value coin" with materials that are openely traded in increments as small as an ounce. Its just a poor business decision. The days of PM's in circulating coinage are gone and will never come back.

No, bad idea because I don't relish the thought of carrying around a purse or a coin holder. Last sofa check I found 46 cents and I know my car has at least that much laying around in it.

Only $50 bucks! Dang, you must not drive a Jeep!image I'd need 4 of those $20 coins to fill my tank!

Don't think it would fly. One of the reasons twenties are used so much, aside from the inflation factor, is that this is the bill ATMs dispense.

Don't see them changing ATMS over to deal with coins.
