Noticed something a little odd Re: The 2009 UHR Saints

Saw this on the US Mint's website in a May 2nd press release:

"As approved by Secretary Paulson, the new coin will have several modern elements. The obverse of the new coin will feature 50 stars, instead of the original 46 stars on the obverse (heads side), which represented the 46 states in the Union in 1907."

However, in the image it clearly shows 46.

I also found that the new coins will (are supposed to) be 27mm in diameter, and 50% thicker than the conventional $50 American Eagle planchets.

if you look closely, you will see the extra stars under the MMIX. I think it is a great way to present them. It makes it look as though it is keeping with the original 46 stars yet the other 4 are actually on the coin. Bravo to the designers(s).

How cool if the die got filled with grease and the last 4 stars were invisible as they would probably blend into the background. That would be a cool error. I'll call my guys at the mint working 3rd shift to see if they can do that. It worked out well by having them "mix" up some dies on the ASE's this year image

You won't see common people ordering 500 at a time looking for the error like you did on the ASE. --Jerry

Will this thing fit in a slab with that thickness?
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
