I have had this for years, and in the divorce clean out the office/house/life, came upon this.....figured I would post.......anyone know where the coin is from......anyone like it?

Family, kids, coins, sports (playing not watching), jet skiing, wakeboarding, Big Air....no one ever got hurt in the air....its the sudden stop that hurts. I hate Hurricane Sandy. I hate FEMA and i hate the blasted insurance companies.

Pretty cool. The date of the Irish piece is on the inside. But it's from generally the same time period.

it looks lighter or lock-ish...
I dont understand the use of the wheel-part.... what purpose it could serve.
hmph.
The coins themselves are common (though some of those Irish halfpennies can have decent catalog values in high grade). Mounted like that, they've lost their numismatic value, most likely, but that's a moot point since the whole thing is worth more as a curiosity than the sum of its parts.
Does it work, by any chance?

<< <i>Yeah, its a lighter...............love it, bought it years ago for $5 or so.....it works great too. >>
how does it work?
open up to expose a wick of some sort? I guess the wheel throws sparks inwards toward the wick?
is the adjustment screw for the wheel?
I would not be at all surprised if it had some value as an antique, to the right collector.
