Things are heating up for the this '93 Finest Refractor Jimmy Key (Looks like a 9OC to me). 500+ and counting. Usually any Jimmy Key auction ends early.

I've been following these cards for about 12-13 years now. You're right, that's a 9(OC)...at best. I'll take my straight PSA 8 any day over that one. That card is never centered.

    Edited to say:
    The pop report shows 12 PSA 8s, 29 PSA 9s, and 2 PSA 10s

I'd like to see those 10s, that's for sure.

Jimmy Key pulled the Houdini on me many moons ago in my only year of what is now called fantasy baseball (back in 87,88, or 89). I've never forgiven the SOB.

The mysterious powers that be strike again... Key auction ends early. Last I saw was something like $538

BTW - thanks again to John S. from these boards and the registry for trading me the Key I have in 8 or I'm sure I'd still be looking.

I'm confused. I followed the link, and it looks like he ended the auction early, but with 0 ???!!! bids.

If you check his "seller's other items" link, he has relisted it with a BIN/BO of $1500.

    What's going on?!

And who is going to drop $1500 to a seller that lists "all cards sold as-is" on the listing with only a small scan of the front of the card?
Nolan Ryan & Edgar Martinez are my favorite players...

Maybe Ebay clears the bid history when an auction ends early... I think there were 6 or so bids on this.

This was not a $550 card to start with so I think the seller is making a mistake here.

I agree with you...he should be lucky to get about $250-$300 for it...

Thanks Allen for the bid history.

Jimmy Key is tied with Orel Hershiser for lowest pop '93 Finest Refractor so there is some demand there. And with both Key and Hershiser it seems that a collector (or collectors) is very adept at getting sellers to end the auctions for those cards early, so it makes getting one through EBay nearly impossible. Hence the frenzied bidding on this one I suppose.

For anyone considering paying that much - a better route is to try and make some connections with the guys on the registry. A few emails may save you several hundred dollars.

I agree GoSteelers that a fair price is probably $250-$300, especially when you are definetly getting the OC qualifier.

Based on the title for the original auction it appears to me that this may be one
of the few times where the reason given for the auction being ended early is true-

The seller ended this listing early because of an ERROR in the listing

Although there is a picture of only one Jimmy Key card the title seems to imply
that he was selling a 10 card lot.

I do agree that the BIN for the new auction is extremely optimistic and the seller
would be lucky to get 1/4 of that.
