I saw a very colorful pcgs 66 1957 D Roosie in a dealer's inventory...
They were asking $300.
I do not collect moderns but am I missing something here?

The toned Silver Roosies just don't carry the premium other toned coins do because 1: there's a lot of them and 2: it's a small coin.
I sold a very pretty 57D that was graded MS66 by PCGS for 60 bucks a few months ago. Actually I thought the 60 bucks was a little high and would have considered a offer if the buyer would have got ahold of me. I do not have overhead like a dealer does. I do have to pay for gas, tires, wear and tear on the truck, shipping supplies, time and other assorted things so just maybe I should have asked 300 for it.

dealers think they can get away with anything right now and troll
for suckers. i could name quite a few online dealers like this but
i won't bother as you probably already know them.

<< <i>By the way 300 bucks is nothing now days for a roosevelt. Look at this colorful Roosevelt

From the image that coin doesn't look MS68 to me....but it may look better in hand and the marks may not be as noticable......
As others pointed out....I have sold many rainbow toned Roosies with grades up to MS67 and stars and they all went for $150 or less but their are some truly exceptional pieces that could sell for $300 or many multiples of that to certain collectors

Hey - I know that coin, since it's on our site. (Thanks for visiting, by the way).
We don't deal hardly at all in modern coins or in toners, with the exception of 50s era mint set toners because they are sometimes wild (as here), and legit (as opposed to AT).
I bought this coin about a year and a half ago at a local show for good money, sold it to a customer who collects toned Roosies and then bought it back from him a year after that (like we would do with any coins we sell) when he changed his collecting focus. I think he posts here, by the way.
The other thing I liked about this one was that fact that it was 2-sided, and in a really old holder (first toned Roosie I can recall as such) before there was much of a financial incentive to AT something like this.
I will admit that I also personally like these, and would keep it for myself if it doesn't sell (it's sort of the opposite of colonial collecting, I guess).
That's pretty much it.
