Aethelred's Auections

Wow --- somebody got the steal of the week on this one!
1946 Guam engraving on a Nazi 5-Mark

I was surprised to see how high this one went, but I feel it's actually a fair price for a specialist's collection:
Pickelhaube "hobo nickel" carving on an Italian copper minor

Really neat offerings all around!

I was watching the Guam carved piece and didn't get back in time to bid. I should have put in a max bid early, but was in a hurry. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Sorry it went so low, but somebody is a happy camper now.

I also thought the Guam item would go for quite a bit more. At a different time it might have, but you just never know. At any rate thank you for watching.image

Before I pushed it up to $9-something, it was really forlorn.

I should've bid more. Not that I necessarily wanted it, though I thought it was cool and easily worth $9-10 to me (wholesale), but I figured it should go for a lot more, particularly being done on a piece of Nazi silver like that.

    I agree- somebody stole it.

My mind is completely blown by how high the Italian piece went, though. If I were our resident Dead King, I would be quite pleased.

I think that more than made up for the underperformance of the Guam engraving.

I suppose with stuff like this, it's all about who sees it and what connection it makes with them. If your item catches the eye of the right person, you're in for a fun ride. If not, well... bummer.
