1790 Proof Sixpence Pattern

Well I might have had to pay a little over the top but decent ones don't seem to come up that often, I missed out on a PF62 earlier this year so decided I wanted this one. It's in a PCGS PF63 slab, ESC1645, a Droz pattern. Sellers pics as it hasn't arrived yet.

Actually NEN has these on a fairly regular basis, and they're usually colorfully toned, although this one is more colorful than most... I hope they're not juiced photos...

FOR SALE Items
I was watching it but alas my coin budget is blown lately. I'm glad you were the highest bidder.
Did you notice the seller had some very nice coins. THe other two that caught my eye were a 1799 Gilt proof 1/2d (which I reeaaalllly wanted) and a nice off centre 1/2d.

Boulton hired Droz in 1790 for his Soho Mint in Birmingham, so it is highly likely.
Boulton modified his partner James Watt's invention, which was the steam engine, to form a screw press. Boulton had heard of Jean Pierre Droz's fame and his invention at the Paris Mint of an automatic feed system which could be attached to his screw press to speed the minting process up.

Well, just Love coins, period.
Certainly, although the seller isn't selling any more coins at the moment. The link below is for the gilt proof 1/2d.
