I was checking out Mark Goodman's book today so

I took a couple pics.......same coin.....fantastic book Mark
I don't have a setup for taking photos of any kind much less coins, I have a Sony 5.1 Cyber-Shot, a little tripod, and a 60W desk lamp, anyway the first pic is the way I have been shooting pics,
The second set is using a couple tips from the book......still a long way to go, but Marks method made this old peace dollar look like a Satin Proof.

Here are a couple more of a Kennedy obverse....all (3) are the same coin.

I sent my check off for a copy a few days ago; now I really can't wait to receive it.
Beauty pic.
Flabbergasted at best.

Nice shots. Big difference. What did you do differently?
I backed off with the camera and the light about 18 inches, also changed the angle of the lighting,
I used to angle the coin, now I will shoot them straight on for this kind of photo, and only angle the lighting.
I briefly read his section on shooting coins that are slabbed today, those are next.

Go to Amazon and search "books" for "Mark Goodman." Buy the one that is on Numismatic Photography.
I'm still awaiting my copy. I bundled it with some other books. I think the order is being held until all my books are available to ship in a single shipment. (free shipping)

I will email Mark and ask him.
Seriously, nice photos, Sumo!
I got mine a long time ago but no time to play coins at the moment. Based on the above statement, which shot best resembles the coin in hand? Does it look like a satin proof or more like photo 1?
