How do you buy large cents

I have recently came across and opportunity to purchase bulk large cents (1000) in AG to Good Condition. How should i go about selling them. Singles?? Bulk Lots?? I can get approximately 30 different dates into a bulk lot. What is the best way to max out my return.

Thanks in advance

I'd sell the best examples as singles and then sell the rest as bulk.

Buyer and seller of vintage coin boards!
  • The average person uses large dollars to buy the best examples of large cents. I think Shamika suggestion is correct. Respectfully, John Curlis
  • Depends on the condition and what you have in the lot, early dates, middle, or late dates.

If you have any decent attributable early dates, I'd have some fun and check for scarce or rare varieties. Same for middle dates. In AG-G it's not worth it for the late dates. Pull out anything decent and sell the rest in lots or bulk. Anything corroded or beat-up is probably not worth your time to check or buy.

I agree with 1798CentCollector - late dates in AG or G probablly aren't worth your time checking. Light corrosion on an early date may not be a huge problem - depends on how badly corroded the copper is and the rarity of the variety if it can be attributed.

Like some others have said, check the early ones for varieties and the same with the middles.

I also recently came across a rather large (700-800) early date large cents.
