    Very common planchet issue from the draw bench. Sometimes, on sronger examples with weaker strikes, you see this also on the reverse on the eagle's breast. It is pronounced at the deep points of the die.

    Yes, striations are common, but I believe yours to be a scrape(post mint damage). Here's an obv scan(78S V-17A) that clearely shows striations; note that they aren't just on the high point of the cheek, but migrate to lower parts of the face and even into the fields.

    Yep, you see this a lot on the CC's from the mid 1880's.
