1909-S Lincoln worth more than the 09-S/S?

Either I am missing something here or the price Guide must be off? It shows that the non-RPM 09-S is valued more than the RPM.

    That's interesting.

So... if you crack an S/S and resubmit without paying for variety attribution the value increases because it comes back as a 1909-S without the variety.

Maybe the variety coin being scarcer trades less so it's price rise is not seen as fast. Just my guess.

Probably just slower in updating the S/S pricing.

    There's three: '09-S, '09-S FS-012.2, '09-S FS-012.3 (HORIZ).

    They're worth about the same.

Here is a look at the 09 S/S FS-012.2. I am fortunate enough to be the current owner of this example. Current pop 1 with 1 higher. No red examples graded at this time. Shag

I have not seen any S/S in person, just photos. I think the straight S/S looks nicer than the Horizontal S/S.

Thanks Dusty and Batman. The close up of the MM really sucks. I will try later this evening to post a better picture. Shag

is it just me or does the novelty of the S/S wear off at a certain
point in your collecting and in the end you just want a nice clean
well struck example.. and thus a premium for those?

but that is just me now.. early on i thought RPMs were neat but
now i consider them a slight negative.

  • Just like the 1995 regular versus 1995 DDO Cent. The regular has a much lower pop and is worth slightly more!
