Goodwin is auctioning off an all PSA 8 1952 Topps master set, and I intend on trying to use it to upgrade my set. Anyone else taking a crack at it as well?

Don't get me wrong, it's great to see cards that look really strong for the grade in an auction house. I wish it happened more often.

<< <i>Is there anyone else here who can bid on the 1952 Topps PSA 8 auction? It's certainly not for us $12K/yr Kroger cashiers. >>
I could buy the commons... but I'd have to construct a tiny shack out of them and make it my home.

O-TAY
Morgoth,
No I'm not out completely. I still have my '72 Kelloggs set on the Registry and I'm buying some PSA 7 and 8's in 1967. I still have about 600 cards from various years I'm slowly selling off.
Dan
The 1952 topps #2 Runnels (black back) psa 8 went for over $49,000.
The Shuba #326 psa 8 went for over $14,000
The Kretlow #42 (red back) psa 8 went for over $16,000
The Terwilliger #7 (red back) psa 8 went for over $15,000
The Hogue #9 (red back) went for almost $12,000
19 cards went for over $10,000 each.
Alot of extremely strong prices.
There were 159 low numbers (1-80) that sold for $566,305 (incl hammer).
That was 3.30 X the current SMR total of $171,779 for the same cards. SMR please take note when you update your prices.
There were 97 high number (311-407) that sold for $377,378 (incl hammer) .
That was 1.72 X the current SMR total of $196,300 for the same cards. SMR still needs to take note.
I feel fortunate that my little old PSA 8 #364 Sukey cost me "only" $1,100!
I'm afraid I didn't bid on any of the three.
