Jobs at US Mint

How do people get coining jobs at the US Mint. I never see openings for these on their website, are these types of jobs not advertised online. I know its probably very hard and labor intensive work after seeing the show about the mint on the travel channel earlier today. Any idea how much they pay as well?

We need (1) imaginative individual to create (accidental errors) like double died coins, extra leaf quarters, mules and whatever else these suckers will buy and believe were accidents. You will be obligated to keep all of this very hush hush or be penalized. Your base pay will be $75,000 but we have partnered with ebay, and teletrade and you will receive 3% of all auction fees collected on said error sales. Along with $3 for every error submission to PCGS, NGC, ANACS, and even SEGS.

MAJOR DUTIES:

This position is located within the Office of Sales and Marketing,
Office of External Relations and Communications. The Candidate will
serve as the project coordinator and will assume the lead role in
the development of educational materials; stakeholder outreach;
participation in educational conferences; development of marketing
materials; distribution of educational material; and communication
plans. This individual must measure the success of the program
through metrics; have the ability to simultaneously manage several
multi-level projects; set priorities; determine resources; set
requirements and decide the course of actions for a variety of
complex programs.
Candidate must also be able to perform in the following areas:
Educational Material Development: Must be able to
develop lesson plans (curricula) for K-12 that meets the national
standards of use for the K-12 classrooms. Lesson plans must be
cross-curricula, and include the use of math, science, social
studies, geography and arts with a focus on the educational value of
U.S. Coinage. Other educational materials include the development
of online content that is ever-changing and fresh; matches the cycle
of the school year; and highlights important calendar dates.
Marketing and Communications: Must be able to
prepare annual communications and marketing plans which must include
advertising, teacher workshop opportunities, website and lesson plan
promotion, teacher conferences and promotional materials such as
bookmarks, self-mailers, and stickers. The plans must be strategic
in nature; have short-term and long-term objectives; and its success
must be tracked through metrics.
Stakeholder and Community Outreach: Must be able to
conduct outreach in communities such as: education organizations;
non-profit groups; teacher networks; numismatic organizations -
which includes young numismatist; and gain and maintain contact with
all other groups interested in using United States Mint materials.
Must also fill special requests for tailored educational information
and promotional items for state, government, and historical
associations, which may include image requests and program liaisons
in support of numismatic coin programs.
Community Outreach: Must conduct outreach as need
for other United States Mint facilities (Denver, Fort Knox,
Philadelphia, San Francisco, and West Point) to encourage local
participation. Additional local community initiatives should be
explored and programs must be evaluated on a regular basis to ensure
outreach is effective, builds awareness of the United States Mint,
and adds value to the Communities.
Project Management: Must develop short-term and long-
term project plans, which includes master calendars of events that
coordinate with the United States Mint field facilities and
numismatic and education conferences for that year. Must manage the
progress of programs and initiatives which includes various cross-
functional teams such as: product managers, design managers, web
development personnel, writers and researchers, and
advertising/marketing liaisons and public affairs.
Performs other comparable duties as assigned.
