I was Suprised when I flipped 1837 Bust Half over

When looking at the front I thought I was looking at an EF, VF coin at worst. It looks like someone took a grinding wheel to the reverse.

What ya see is what ya get.

I've been surprised to notice that coins don't often come better than their eBay images, although every once in a while they do!!!

I'm surprised it's going for that much.

What is the diameter of the coin?

I didn't buy it nor planning too. I wondered if it was a counterfeit.(I do not mean to imply it is)

Breen lists four different diameters for this date, the result of four collar widths. The rarest is widest, 31.6 diameters, and I suspect this is one of them. If so, it could explain some of the peripheral detail loss.
