I thought ebay liked me

Sorry in advance for the rant -- but I am somewhat irritated.
Typically when I contact ebay re: a bogus auction or a fake card or patch the auction comes down within a 24-hour period.

But now that someone has stolen a scan from one of my auctions and is offering the card for sale - I can't get any action

My Original
Auction

Stolen Auction Scan

When I talked to ebay Saturday evening the guy from Trust and Safety was like "yeah you are both selling a 53 Mantle card", my response was along the line of "it's not a DVD where every scan is the same -- the fact that I have the card means he doesn't have it and someone is going to get scammed". He simply could not understand what the issue was. If he is not the poster child for ebay IQ testing I don't know who is.

Just use a 2nd ID, snipe it and neg him. A new ID won't work so if you don't have a 2nd then maybe one of us can help.

Hi, you might want to contact them during regular business hours M-F. The weekend crew has no clue generally. I've had a similar circumstance earlier this year and one of the weekday powerseller reps actually told me never to call on the weekend if possible.

    Just a suggestion!

Nothing against your card, but why would someone copy a card in that shape to begin with?

Draws less attention than a high dollar one. He can get a hundred or 2 with lower risk. Maybe a scammer in training.

That makes a lot of sense! I never thought of that! I guess that's why stupid people make the smartest criminals sometime!

did you see his other card auction? for the lot of cards?? I just sent him an email telling him how I think that lot looks great, and if there are any Mantles in it.
  • On the Mantle card - Check out his return policy

"If you open the box then i cant give you yur money back. The package must be sealed the way i sent it."

  • Remind me next week and I will use my scam deverter ID. Used this ID last week to snipe the 1971 OPC baseball box.

I've been in contact with the genius wannabe scammer. He's trying to sell me the Mantle outside of Ebay (big shock). Ive submitted this complaint to Ebay....

The scammer is using the EXACT same picture to sell his non-existant one. The freaking idiot even copied the auction title. Ive emailed him, saying I'm interested in the Mantle, and he's trying desperately to sell it to me outside of Ebay (imagine that). The original seller contacted one of you and was basically told that it's nto unusual if two people are selling the same object. You've got to be kidding me! With every second that this scam auction stays live, Ebay is losing tons of credibility. Please do something about this clown!

He/she is telling me the same thing. That their Mantle is way nicer than the one in the pic, and they didn't have a picture of their card. I asked about that lot of cards they have for auction and where that pic came from, and the response I got was "I took it".

People like this are too stupid too live, and should at the very least be neutered.

He also told me, My Mantle is much nicer than that. I gave him a little lecture and he hasn't responded.
  • Wow that's crap...i'd recommend asking to speak to a supervisor that gets responses usually..people perk up quickly when they think you'll talk to their boss.
