The card purge....

So, here's what's up. Purging the collection. I didn't realize how much stuff I had. I'm only keeping the modern stuff and everything '85 and older. Some other stuff inbetween. I love this. I've found a ton of cards I didn't know I had. Hopefully this will give us some more room in the house.

next year's stuff would be "future" cards and he's not saying anything about those.

So I got dibs on UD Premier and Triple Threads
  • You guys probably don't want this stuff. I've got about 10 monster boxes full of stuff not worth anything. I really don't have time to sort through stuff to be honest. It would take WAY too long to do that. I know this seems silly, but if anyone wants to pay for shipping I'll send everything for free. Like I said, just pay for shipping. Thanks!

Don't be so sure that it's not worth going through. I picked up over 100,000 cards off a guy on the eBay discussion board a few years ago for shipping cost and had a blast sorting through the mess.

I've made partial sets, picked out players I collect, added to my Braves collection and have helped out others with their needs as well.

So even though I have a pile of 114,000 cards sitting here that will end up in the landfill, if I had the funds I'd take them all off your hands just for the fun I would get from sorting through another bunch of cards.

  • I just don't have the time or the interest in these years anymore to be honest.

Do you have a Children's hospital in your area? I've done it before and the kids fighting cancer or just very ill don't care what year the cards are from. That would be a great donation and you could add it on your taxes next year.

Yeah, thanks for the suggestion. Been there and done that. Even started a program at church for it. A lot of complications have happened now that make it impossible. I don't want to just dump them. So, I'm planning on giving some away to some kids and then donating the rest to the Salvation Army to sell. I'm not really concerned with the write off. Too much time and not enough value.
  • I'm down...PM me and i'll send you the shipping address.

I've only got about 5 more monster boxes to go through. This is starting to hurt to be honest. All the money I "invested" in these cards only to see them never retain value. Lesson learned.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

Well, good news! The childrens hospital has put in a request for more. I didn't know till this evening. Unfortunately there's none left in the storage. So, the cards I was purging are now going to the hospital.
Bad news, someone on the boards wanted them. Thanks Wrongleg for understanding!

Can't think of a better use of cards than to help cheer up kids in the hospital. That's really cool.

Yea, that happens at our local hospital. It seems to be a pretty good "rack"et for the nurses....
