79-s Proof Set....Is this the clear S? In 1979

AUandAGAUandAG Posts: 24,940 ✭✭✭✭✭
is there a type one and type two? This does not look like a blob S to me but what say you? All the mintmarks
on this set are like this one on this nickel.
thanks,
bob

  • Yes, there's a T1 and T2 for 1979 proofs. I belive this is the rarer type. It doesn't look 'blobby' to me.

    Clearly Type 2

The blob "S" is just that, a blob. The 81 is a different story

I think the only ones that make a difference are the SBA and Lincoln. I don't think the others mean a big deal in 1979. I might be wring though.

The 79-S T-2 is the Rare one. I've got the entire set in DCAM and they're gorgeous. I think it's worth a pretty decent amount too. Hmmm, I've been holding onto it along with the likes of the Buffalo Coin & Currency set (sealed) and the 2 pc Matte finish Kennedy Collection - not the proofs but the matching Matte finish pieces. They all are true collectibles, worth a decent amount. image

I had pix of them but would need to check to see if I still have them. (The pix, that is!)
