<< <i>Because people are stupid. And maybe the guy doesn't do the graded card thing. >>
Even if the guy doesnt do the graded card thing, someone would rather pay 35% more for a card to be assured its NOT gem mint in a plastic case that can be opened easily.
Nice $40 bump in the last seconds of the $102 auction!!
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
It's because there are fewer raw cards than graded ones.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

I was being sarcastic. Just playing off what another poster claimed.

Yeah I knew that..lol I wasnt directing my comment towards you or anyone in particular. Just funny to be the seller here.. And i doubt you can find another example unless you get a psa 10 rookie and then a yr later he gets super hot and the raw surpass what was previously paid for 10s.
Maybe not as much recently as in years past, but there was a time when winning an auction meant more than saving money, getting a good deal, etc. Perhaps the lrk812 still adhere's to this ideology.
When I was unloading my DVD collection, I sold plently of used DVD's that the buyer could have easily purchased new and at a lesser price by simply walking down to their local Target or Walmart.
There's always going to be an auction that goes for way more than anyone would ever think. The $102 seller should count his blessings, but even with that price, it's not like there are hundreds of dollars in the spread.

Something else that was cool back then is many sellers took SASE's. I use to always look for Young proofs that were $1-2 and I could sent a SASE.
Girls were girls and men were men. No wait....that never was true with eBay....but boy has it changed.

Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards. Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
I think leaving "Bowman's Best" out of the title had something to do with it. Your listing has 11 more views than his, but I think a lot of those could have been from board members and readers of this thread. Just a thought.
I think I would have gone with a title like; "96 Bowman's Best Atomic Refractor Terrell Owens PSA 10" then make sure to have "1996" "RC" and "ROOKIE" in the subtitle.

I never start an auction with 96. always the full year
10's shouldnt be too rare in this set because the card stock is so good. I bought multiple Eddie George Atomic Ref RC from this set way back when. Saw them go for over a $100 and I doubt they would pull much more than $25, if that.
You, more than anyone, should LOVE the those two auctions. Don't focus on the difference. Focus on the amount paid.
This sale just reinforces that there are buyers out there looking to pay above market prices for cards, and yours -graded or not- should trade well in that environment. C'mon, $100 for an ungraded card that has less than 30% chance to grade gem? ..and pop 12. Tell me you don't love that!
That being said, I have to agree that it should be an isolated incident.
<< <i>I think the insanity is paying $75-$100 for a Terrell Owens card. >>
Why he will go down in history as one of the greatest recievers.. >>
Seriously?
If he retired today, think he would be more known as a cancer in the clubhouse rather than being a really good receiver..
One of the greatest ever? Not in my book by several miles.

If TO has another normal season of production, he will be in the top 5 all-time in Receptions, Yards, and Rec TDs. You can't ask much more from a player. He might have his issues, but he has been OK with the Cowboys. The whole Philly episode will be forgotten, it's not like the Eagles were contenders without him.

Yeah, those three NFC Championship games in a row prior to him joining were flukes anyways.

Its gotta be the first time in the last 5years on ebay over the course of hundreds of thousands or millions of cards being sold

I decided more people would look for refractor than bowmans best.
