Opinions wanted as to the authenticity of these Joe DiMaggio autos

As with the Williams autos, I acquired both of these in 1983. I did NOT get them signed in person. Do you think either, or both are authentic? The baseball card itself is a reprint, in case anyone was wondering.

Thanks!

  • My guess would be the same as the Williams thread.

Perhaps I should add that they were from a completely different source than the Williams. Of course, they could still be fake regardless.

  • Why wouldn't you just include the image in your post rather than linking to it...and LSU, your posts are getting shorter and less significant.

I have not been able to figure out how to do that yet? Any instructions about how to do this would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

My guess is fake on both...I just don't like the "D" on either one.

    Leo/Lou/Lon,

I will give him this, he joined the recent BBCE group break and paid immediately.
  • I'm going with not real. They don't look good to me............
  • Your yellow HOF card is consistent with an authentic Dimaggio signature. Although, I would want to look at it in person, due to the degraded ink on the last part of Dimaggio(a key area to catch Joe D forgeries), before I would say with 100% certain.

On the regular reprint card, I can't make out much detail, but it does not look right to me.

There is no great secret here. I am a longtime collector of baseball cards - since 1976. But literally have never bought a graded card, nor submitted one for grading until 7/3/08 when I sent my first ever 6 card submission into PSA. The last 3 years of membership on the board have been spent simply reading and learning about PSA and graded cards and why people do and do not like PSA. I guess you could call me a slow learner. LOL!

I really do appreciate the people who take the time to answer questions and share their knowledge. That is what has made me interested in becoming more active on the board. That and I need an occasional escape from my 5 year old and 2 year old!

Joe Dimaggio's auto is fake about 80% of the time.

Is yours? I have no idea.
