I am looking to buy an autograph of Chipper and was wondering if you guys believe this autograph is authentic or not. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Mike

  • Just my opinion of course, but I am 99% sure that is a fake. Not even close to the one I got in person or the ones I see on eBay with PSA COAs.

    LSU, Thanks

The seller says that he can not garauntee the autograph to be authentic, I did not see any on ebay either that matched the authgraph, just making sure I was not missing anything. I am going pass on it and wait for another one. The price was only $95, that does not sound right anyway. Thanks again. Mike

Goot would probably be a good person to ask. Maybe send him a PM.

100% Positive it is a Fake .... It's not even remotely close! ....

Chipper's sig has been consistent throughout his professional career.

This ball was signed by Chipper Jones in person last year:

    Mike,

Here are 3 more signed a little earlier in Chipper's career. They are all authentic. The Topps one is mine in my signed rookie collection. As you can see, this early career style signature is a little bit different than the ones the guys posted above that are recent sigs. These early signatures are more in style with the one you posted. However, I've never seen a full last name like the one you posted, although people do sign differently all the time as shown by these 3 compared to the ones above.

Not that it makes much of a difference (or if we'll ever know otherwise), but do you think Chipper signs official type documents "Chipper" Jones, e.g. his given name is Larry Wayne Jones, Jr. I'd imagine his drivers license or credit cards don't say "Chipper Jones." Or perhaps they might. Who knows? I certainly don't.
