On the way to the PO today, I was listening to a local talk show that had Chocolate Thunder on as a guest. The dude is a freakin trip.
When asked why he finally decided to retire after 30 years of playing, he said: "The day I decided to stop playing was the day they decided to stop paying me."
On the best opponent he played against: "Bob Lanier. You couldn't guard him with a tennis racket."
On his favorite teammate: "Bobby Jones. He was one badass white boy."
Dawkins was a pretty good player in his own right. His RC can still be had for around $5 in NM-MT.
