I saw one similar to this at a coin shop in Boulder Colorado. If I recall correctly, on the one I saw, the watch movement was built into the coin instead of the watch simply being put into the coin as a holder.
It was very cool and not nearly as "buff" looking as the one in the auction.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
Oddly enough, I went to a local jewelry store where they had an estate sale. And I saw a watch just like this! It was a $20 liberty that had a few light scratches on the obverse, clean reverse. There is a little hidden button that you hit, and the obverse flips open to reveal a watch by Piaget!
Of course I put it on layaway, and I will pick it up next week. It is the coolest thing I have ever seen. I saw on one ebay that was a pocket watch....same style but a Saint Gaudens. Would make a nice surprise when showing off your pocket piece no?
