Pain and Agony - 3 NEW Disastrous shipping stories :(

Admittedly - I've had some of the worst luck in history with my PC. BUT Crap happens...life moves on. Just know that things like this do happen especially larger items and to appreciate those sellers that do CARE and package SECURELY and WISELY. It seems the learning curve on packageing larger item is really steep and sellers just don't get it!

1st story: Saw this on ebay and said "hmmmm...good starting price," however, I didn't watch it and moved on. A fellow collector emails me the listing a couple days later and we both ended up saying the same thing "like it in the original top loader better (easier to store), but at least you don't have to frame it". So I said what the heck and got it for the opening bid plus s/h ( $9.99 plus $9.99 = $19.98 total). Even though I have six of these already, I really couldn't past up such a good deal.

Luckily it was insured by the SELLER. I emailed him and got a full refund immediately. IT was properly wrapped inside with bubble wrap but the outside "homemade" flat box was flimsy. Here's how it arrived when USPS delivered it.

2nd story: Been trying to get this print for several years now (there's several different ones) and finally got my 1st one on 7/7. It was shipped in a STRUDY box, but inside there was very little packaging buffer. When it arrived by UPS, I said "Cool, no damage," but when I opened it...UGH!!!

I've sent the seller the pictures and requested a refund -- just waiting on how he will handle it.
Here's how it looked:

These two disasters happened with in the last 7 days.

3rd story: This one kills me! As I have long be a faithful customer of megarick1 for several years and have spent several thousands of dollars with them in that period. They have been really nice and have even given me several really nice "freebies" along the way.

But since this latest $500 purchase went "bad," I have gotten a bit of the runaround from them. On 5/17, I ordered 37 Uncut Sheets from them via ebay. Because the order was so larger I asked if they could discount SHIPPING. They replied, "No because it cost that much" and instead sent me an auctivia invoice with the INSURANCE taken off. If you received these invoices, you can not adjust it. I paid the invoice right away, feeling assured that nothing would go wrong since I had expressed my concerns with them during my LAST TWO previous Uncut Sheets order. In the previous Uncut Sheet order that was similar in #s, they included 2 24x36 top loaders that fended off possible damage.

On May 26th, I posted the one of the Pacific Uncut Sheets in my Mark Brunell thread, noting that there was an issue with the order. Unfortunately, it was packaged without the top loaders and when it arrived 34 of the 37 sheets arrived with dinged corners, while several had creases. The dings were deep enough to where most affected the corner cards of each sheet rendering them NOT NRMT as described.

I emailed them immediately with several scans of the damage and they said "Looks like the PO dropped it on the corner, but we'll take care of you"...Two days go by and they send out a "Everything is 50% off sale"...GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR...You mean I can buy this stuff for 50% off?!? So I asked will I get a 50% off my original sale?!?

Over the course of 6 weeks, it was ME who had to initiate contact with them time and time again via emails, PM on ebay and phone calls. Linda was the customer service person in PA, while Rick was the shipper in FL. Ultimately, I dealt with Linda primary while Rick was to correct the problem. Both Linda and Rick assured me that I would be taken care of via replacements (if available), refund on non replaceable sheets and refund on the 50% off sale price. The last point, even Linda admitted, "If I bought something and it went on sale the next week, I would return and re-buy it!"

In the end, after 6+ weeks, I receive most of my replacement sheets sans 1 set. In addition, another set was creased thru two cards (note...Shakes head). I did NOT get a refund on the 50% off aspect. Megarick1 was one of my main resources for oddball items, but now this once "favorite" is just another seller you have to be careful with.

This is how the original shipment came. I accepted 40% of the DINGED sheets as "good" btw!

One last note: INSURANCE is for the SELLER to purchase, not the BUYER so that should have NO effect on these purchases.

true, if they wanna cover their butts, maybe its time to start charging more for shipping; these days Feebay penalizes you for not having Free this, and free that.

I feel for you...I had a guy send a clemente framed/mirrored piece from the 60s placed directly into one of those big USPS priority mail bags.

No padding, nothing. Its like he put it directly into a grass/leaf plastic bag to mail.

Man, I feel your pain. I had one case just last month, and the seller did do a partial refund. It was Starting Lineups
shipped in a plain brown envelope. I could not believe my eyes !! Fortunately, the figures were under 5.00 so I
    lucked out.

Sellers are squeezing every corner right now to make as much as they can on a sale so shipping is one area where I see
potential problems especially for bigger/fragile items.

I've gotten my fair share of bad shipping jobs (remember my wife's Heritage box that arrived in an flat rate envelope with the corner smashed? Not to mention the seller didn't tell us it was a RETAIL box?) and I agree, what you went through most definetly sucks balls.

Ultimately, when we see bad shipping/packaging on a single card...just think of the STEEP learning curve it is to actually package a larger item SECURELY and WISELY...most times it's beyond their comprehension.

I'll admit my s/h charges on ebay are NOT cheap for plates, framed pieces, etc, but at least you can feel safe in that I will ship it properly.
