There is circulating silver right here in the US. You have to be patient and search, but they are coming out of the old change jars.

Yeah, there are plenty of silver halves still circulating. I went through $2,000 worth yesterday, and found 61 silvers, including 12 90%'s, 49 40%'s, and a couple of proofs. One of the 90%'s was a 1939-S too, and is probably worth around $20.

Mexico keeps trying, right now they are minting 100 Peso coins with a silver centre, they were minting 10 Peso coins with a silver centre, but they are worth more than melt. The 100 Pesos is close, but it is a large denomination in Mexico, like $10 US and doesn't usually circulate.

I doubt it.

Japan has a 100,000 Y (~$970) gold coin which weighs only .643 OZt that
probably circulates lightly today.

They also have a 10,000 Y (.642) silver coin and 5000 Y of nearly half an ounce.

Last time I was in Mexico, the silver center 10 pesos were everywhere in circulation, that was a while ago though.

France is planning to issue some high euro denomination ones. Silver content will be much less than face.

I collect Netherlands €5 and €10 Silver commems, they can be purchased at face value in the post office and I believe some banks in Netherlands. I know Germany has done €10 commems that sell at face value too, but I only have a couple of them so far. But these things really do not circulate and are more for collectors. If they did circulate they can only be used in the country that made them.

I should point out that gold and silver went out of circulation for many years in Japan
so they haven't been "still" circulating.

In almost every country in the world silver and gold were removed from circulating coin-
age between 1946 and 1968. People in almost every case quit collecting new coins when
the silver disappeared. In some cases the base metal coins are virtually impossible to
find in uncirculated condition today. In some cases the coins were destroyed and are dif-
ficult to find in any condition.

I have not seen any in the border area in the last 20 + years. I think I have seen some in 1978.
