If you're into vintage I would normally suggest a short ride north on I-79 to wayne varner's shoebox, but he'll be at the national. He's the only dealer I've ever dealt with in the pittsburgh area other than at robert morris shows and the occasional flea market seller.

Pittsburgh is a good place to find steelers oddball things you might not find elsewhere, but you don't generally get a lot of steals on pittsburgh items.

Have a good time at training camp, and don't forget to catch a pirates game while you're there!

Not sure what I was thinking, I've also bought a few cards from mike wheat cards. Again he might be at the national, but worth at least an email to find out.

I hope you know the Steelers train in Latrobe, not Pittsburgh.
  • Thanks - my nephew and I go every year- we stay in Pittsburgh because there is so much more to do.

If you are into modern (not vintage) Pittsburgh Sports Wholesale is right outside of Pittsburgh (McKeesport).
  • If you want to take a ride up to Beaver PA their is Diamond Jims. There is also a card shop in Monroeville, but I am drawing a blank on the name. If I come up with it I will post it on this thread.

If you are flying in, your best bang for the buck cardwise is the Big Beaver Valley. Stop laughing! Wayne Varner in Zelienople does not have a shop per se. They mostly do internet and mail order stuff, but Bill and Wayne have ALWAYS been very friendly any time I stopped in. You may want to call ahead. Their vintage cards will blow your hair back.

Diamond Jim's is right on the main drag in Beaver. He loves to talk about cards and has some cool stuff he'll show you once he starts yapping.

If you make it to Jim's, you might as well cross the river into New Brighton and Tangora's card shop is right on the main street . He has a regular cards store with a little bit of everything. Don't deal with his wife. You practically have to punch her in the throat to get a discount even with cash.

From there, you have to travel the six blocks to see Jim at Funtastic Cards (the sign says FC Skate Shop). Jim (different from Diamond Jim) is an awesome guy. He pretty much just has a small selection of new packs. He does not have 1/10 of the inventory of Sportscards Etc, but his prices are waaay better. With the kids that wander in and out of his store, it is almost like being in the Star Wars Cantina.

Sportscards Etc is not far from Robinson Town Center right on Rt 60. They have a great selection of modern packs from all sports. They have really increased their vintage inventory in the last year or so. Their prices are definitely the highest.

If you are driving to Latrobe from the South or East, then you are tough crap out of luck. Pittsburgh Wholesale is the only thing out that way, and they do not have a storefront at all that I am aware of.

PM if you need directions, more details or if you want the skinny on the area nudie bars.
