Are you talking about the fact that the card is O/C or the fact that it has been trimmed on the left border or both?

Thanks for fixing the link, and the answer is YES.

Might just be me, but card looks nice to me, I think the left border is an optical illusion due to the holder, Looks like the holder is covering up some of the left side of the card. Appears to be slightly OC top to bottom, but otherwise looks fine. I could live with 8's like that.

The holder is definitely covering up some of the left side of the card.

Wouldn't you think he'd at least try to center it in the holder before scanning???

A couple light taps might equal a couple more bids!

He'll probably get between $200-$225 for it (if his reserve isn't extreme)

I agree and it's just another classic case of a seller thinking the buyers are buying the PSA # instead of the card. I think it's a bad mistake by the seller, because it does look like an awesome 71 card.
  • I see nothing wrong or fishy about the card.

I don't see how the seller is making a mistake trying to get a decent price for his item by pushing the positive points of a PSA 8 card. PSA is responsible for grading this card and as we all know as registry members there is a time when upgrading or filling a slot can only be accomplished by buying cards such as this. The seller's Description below is IMO not unfair or over the top.

1971 TOPPS BASEBALL CARD #26 BERT BLYLEVEN (ROOKIE CARD) IS GRADED PSA 8 NEAR MINT TO MINT. NO QUALIFIERS. TOUGH CARD TO FIND IN THIS CONDITION FOR THE 1971 TOPPS SET. ONLY 7 CARDS HAVE BEEN GRADED HIGHER THAN PSA 8. NICE SHARP CORNERS, SMOOTH EDGES, GREAT COLOR AND GLOSS. THIS IS A BEAUTY. SHIPPING/HANDLING SECURELY FOR $3.00. INSURANCE EXTRA. I ACCEPT PAYPAL, CHECK OR MONEY ORDER. CHECK MUST CLEAR PRIOR TO SHIPPING. THANK YOU FOR VIEWING.

You think that card deserves a straight 8 based on the top to bottom centering? I'm sorry, I don't.

The card looks like a low-end Psa 8 card to me.

Tough to see exact centering of card the way it is slid to the left in the holder I believe that it appear that the boarder is smaller than it really is, IMO.

Stevie Wonder did, so what exactly is the problem?

Perhaps the card has corners that warranted a 9 grade and
the blind grader gave this card an 8 because of that?

Without the card in hand all anyone can do is speculate.

Here is the card with correction for the "illusion" created by the holder:

    image

It appears to be lower end for the grade, but I don't have a problem with it being in a PSA 8, especially when compared to others that I have witnessed.

I've no prob with that card as an 8, but it would be most revealing if we had it in hand to see.
